Operational Excellence - A New Era of Proficiency

October 4, 2012 marked the official roll out of Operational Excellence at Pillar5 Pharma as well as   re-defined pillars of foundation:

• Business Excellence

Pillar5 offers continous improvement strategies to various partners and our team was able to generate 65 ideas for consideration.

Patient Centric Approach

I read the enclosed article today and it's rather insightful.  Essentially previously conceived notions would assume that "patient centric" approaches were more of a marketing strategy....if anything it provides more realism - giving patients what they need!

LEAN Update

LEAN Update: Calm the Schedule project continues to produce good results and is progressing well.

This is a very challenging project involving most departments. Great work by the team!

Completed Lead Time project noted a 48% decrease in the lead times originally established in SAP. (Note: data does not include raw materials and customer supplied product). 

RFT Documentation project is well underway, wrapping up the “Analyze” phase and starting “Improve” next week.

Lean Six Sigma Transparency and Patient Focus - Take Home Message from Interphex 2012

I had the fortune to attend Robert Lechich's session entitled "Deploying Lean Six Sigma in Global Manufacturing Networks"at the Interphex 2012 Conference on May 3rd. 

The biggest take home message for me was when he painted a picture of the future of the Pharma Industry which includes  an era where technical transfers will be more common.  Companies will then choose CMO's based on similarities to their own organizational culture.  Evolution of Lean Six Sigma, transparency and patient focus are the top items that will drive these partnerships. 

Further development and growth of these areas are at the forefront of the Pillar5 Pharma culture.

Six Sigma/Lean Update

LEAN Update: “Calm the Schedule” kaizen kick off started last week. A really important project involving colleagues from Materials, Quality and Manufacturing. The goal is to produce a more efficient production schedule and define efficiencies. This initiative is also one of our key strategic objectives to help reduce cycle time and working capital. Thanks to all team members for participating.
